Pantasy 85021 – Steampunk Airship – Fantasy at full steam
A mighty airship glides through dense clouds, its red-hot propellers whirring and gears inside working tirelessly – welcome aboard a steam-powered fantasy world. The Pantasy Steampunk Airship instantly evokes memories of Jules Verne, Victorian adventures, and science fiction dreams. The story begins the moment you lay eyes on the richly decorated balloon envelope: golden pipes, mechanical wings, and meticulously detailed printing create a visual pull into a time that never was – and yet seems real. For steampunk enthusiasts, this model isn't just a set, but an invitation to a cinematic journey through steam, wind, and the romanticism of technology.
Technically, the model impresses with a fully constructed balloon – a rarity in building blocks – and a cleverly interlocking control system: when the engine's axes are turned, the rudder and propeller move synchronously. The construction utilizes many printed parts with metallic accents, which not only looks authentic but also lends the model a tangible sense of quality. The building process is varied, sometimes challenging, but never frustrating. While the base is assembled quickly, the balloon, with its many hinges and special building techniques, demands concentration and patience – but the reward is a solid, almost sculptural structure. The finished model appears stable and coherent down to the last detail, including five imaginatively designed figures with alternative legs for seated positions.
Although Pantasy recommends this set for ages 6 and up, this airship is clearly designed for experienced AFOLs and enthusiasts of detailed display models. Its dimensions (42 × 37 × 24 cm) make it a striking centerpiece that looks best displayed in a fixed position – the sturdy stand is ideal for this. The color scheme is dominated by dark red, bronze, and gold – perfectly in keeping with classic steampunk aesthetics. The model combines well with other Pantasy sets from the Retro series, such as the Steampunk Windmill, but also works wonderfully on its own. A set like a film still – for those who prefer counting gears to pushing pixels.
