Beyond the walls, the next watch begins as torchlight travels across stonework, timber and battlements. This medieval training ground gives its soldiers a place to prepare for duty, inspect their equipment and practise between towers and raised platforms. Muted earth tones and greys create a convincing castle atmosphere, made even more evocative by the warm integrated lighting. Five medieval soldiers bring the scene to life and invite you to stage drills, changing guards and quiet moments between duties. The finished model tells a clear story as a standalone display, yet it also feels at home within a larger castle or medieval settlement. Instead of another throne room or tavern, you build a practical corner of fortress life where the daily routine of a garrison takes centre stage.

The build uses 964 pieces to form a modular-looking arrangement of walls, towers, elevated levels and accessible training areas. Layered stonework, timber accents and subtle changes in height keep the structure from feeling like a flat backdrop. The lighting system is incorporated as you build, allowing selected areas to glow without distracting from the architecture. Its vertical layout creates engaging sightlines between the courtyard, platforms and sheltered interior spaces. Each stage adds depth and structure until the training ground becomes a compact yet substantial castle module.

This set is aimed primarily at experienced teenage builders and adult medieval enthusiasts who value atmosphere as much as a considered building experience. The five soldiers add character and storytelling potential without taking away from the model's display-focused design. In daylight, the stepped architecture gives the scene a strong silhouette; after dark, the illumination reveals its most atmospheric side. It can also serve as the starting point for, or an extension to, a larger medieval town, fortress or diorama.
