The tank buster takes flight

This model lets you recreate one of the most distinctive aircraft designs of the Second World War as a historical display piece. The Junkers Ju 87G-2 was developed as a dedicated tank buster and therefore carries two prominent 37 mm cannons beneath its wings. COBI clearly captures the original aircraft’s inverted gull wings, fixed landing gear and long cockpit canopy. Muted camouflage colours and extensive printed detailing give the finished build a precise, scale-model appearance. Mounted on its display stand, the Stuka looks as though it is banking across your shelf. Its 571 pieces come together as a detailed record of aviation history, focusing on the machine and its specialised engineering rather than romanticising its wartime role.

The build uses a sturdy central fuselage in 1:32 scale before adding the wings, tail assembly and distinctive external equipment. A mix of plates, slopes and shaped elements recreates the tapering body and unusual wing geometry. The separately constructed cannon pods and printed transparent canopy are among the defining sections of the build. A spinning propeller and adjustable control surfaces add movement, while the cockpit accommodates both crew figures. At approximately 35 cm long with a 41.5 cm wingspan, the aircraft remains manageable while making a strong impression in a historical collection.

The set is aimed at experienced builders aged nine and over as well as adult enthusiasts of historical aviation. A pilot and rear gunner bring the cockpit to life and reflect the crew layout of the real aircraft. For display, the stand and printed identification plate showcase the inverted gull wings and underslung cannons from an effective angle. The propeller, control surfaces and crew figures also provide tangible play value once construction is complete. It balances an accessible medium-sized build with the presence of a carefully observed collector’s model.
