Nelson’s flagship rises again

Bring one of history’s most celebrated sailing ships into your collection. HMS Victory carried Admiral Horatio Nelson into the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and remains an enduring symbol of Royal Navy power. Her black-and-yellow hull, tiered gun ports and three towering masts create the unmistakable outline of a Napoleonic-era ship of the line. Fabric sails and layered rigging give the model the poised energy of a vessel caught by the wind, even while standing still. COBI based the design on the surviving museum ship and the requirements of the Royal Navy Museum. The result is not a generic warship, but a historical miniature with a clearly identifiable real-world subject.

You build the hull layer by layer from 2,517 pieces at 1:144 scale. Repeated sections along the broadside and gun decks call for patience while recreating the disciplined rhythm of the original vessel. The bow, stern gallery and carefully shaped transitions show how angular elements can form a convincing nautical profile. Adding the masts, yards, rigging and textile sails then transforms the build and gives it its dramatic height. A dedicated display stand supports the finished ship and completes the presentation with a printed nameplate.

This standard COBI 20096 edition is aimed squarely at adult builders, sailing-ship enthusiasts and collectors of historical models. It focuses entirely on the vessel and includes no minifigures or animals; the Nelson figure and Nelson’s Column belong to other or separately available editions. Displayed in a cabinet or on a sideboard, the ship has the presence of a compact museum exhibit and rewards viewing from every angle. Its long hull, dense rigging and pale fabric sails make it a commanding centrepiece for a maritime collection.
