1956 CITROËN DS 19.

Build the goddess of the road

Bring one of the boldest automotive shapes of the 1950s to your building table. The Citroën DS 19 blended futuristic engineering with unmistakable French elegance, earning its celebrated nickname “La Déesse” — the goddess. COBI recreates the 1956 saloon as a large 1:12-scale model, capturing its flowing roof, distinctive nose and gently tapering rear. Its 2,230 pieces form a classic measuring around 40 cm long and evoke the optimism of post-war modernism. The restrained colour scheme keeps the focus firmly on the car’s extraordinary silhouette and carefully stepped surfaces. You are not simply building a vehicle, but a documented landmark of French design history.

The build starts with a rigid chassis before progressing through the complete cabin and the intricately shaped body sections. Angled assemblies, sloping surfaces and rounded elements translate the original car’s organic curves into a convincing brick-built form. Steerable front wheels and opening doors introduce satisfying mechanical movement. Swing the doors open to reveal sculpted seats, detailed door panels, the characteristic steering wheel and a carefully constructed dashboard. Logos, number plates and instruments are printed directly onto the relevant elements, making the graphics a permanent part of the finished model.

This DS is made for experienced builders, classic-car enthusiasts and collectors of exceptional industrial design. At roughly 40 cm long, the completed saloon commands attention through its unmistakable profile rather than flashy effects. No figures or animals are included, leaving the accessible interior and working features to take centre stage. A printed instruction manual guides confident younger builders through the demanding project, while the scale and depth of detail give it particularly strong adult display appeal.

Building with history, technology and character

COBI is the largest building brick manufacturer in Central and Eastern Europe. Based in Poland, it has a clear mission: to create high-quality building sets that combine a passion for technology, historical learning and creative play. Every set is made exclusively in the EU using rigorously tested materials.

COBI specialises in collector’s models with character: military history models, modern classics at 1:35 scale, licensed vehicles and aircraft, as well as interactive technology sets. The extensive Historical Collection is especially popular, featuring faithfully detailed tanks, aircraft, ships and vehicles from the First and Second World Wars. Moving parts, durable prints instead of stickers and authentic scales make these models a highlight for collectors and grown-up builders.

Everything is manufactured at COBI’s own factory in Mielec, Poland, using materials of European origin, in accordance with strict EU regulations and with continuous quality testing, including inspections by TÜV Rheinland. COBI also works with renowned brands such as Jeep®, Škoda®, Maserati®, Boeing® and Dassault Aviation, as well as Wargaming.net (World of Tanks and World of Warships). Thanks to the included statistics cards, many sets can even be used as compact strategy games.

COBI is therefore aimed not only at children, but also at adults, technology enthusiasts, history fans and model builders. If you are looking for something special beyond the familiar brands, you will find it here: robust quality, fascinating themes, authentic scales and durable prints, all developed and manufactured in Europe.
