Battleship Tirpitz.

The Shadow of the North Sea

This model lets you reconstruct Tirpitz, the second Bismarck-class battleship and one of the best-known warships of the Second World War. Its long, low silhouette recalls the years the real vessel spent stationed in Norwegian fjords, where its mere presence tied down considerable opposing forces. Tiered superstructures, heavy artillery and a slender hull capture the unmistakable profile of the historical ship in a focused display format. The restrained grey colour scheme gives the model a sober, almost museum-like presence. The result is a piece of naval history that combines technical fascination with a thoughtful look at the realities of the Second World War.

The 593-piece build becomes a 35.5 cm-long model at 1:700 scale, with proportions that convincingly preserve the lines of the original. A rigid internal core supports the narrow hull, while plates, slopes and sideways building techniques shape its deck edges and superstructures. Numerous small, flat elements turn the surface into a dense arrangement of bridge sections, observation platforms, masts and gun positions. The main turrets can be rotated by hand, adding a subtle sense of movement to a ship designed primarily for display. Repeating deck and hull sections create a calm, focused rhythm before the finer details gradually bring the complete profile into view.

The brick-built display stand raises the slim silhouette and prepares the finished model for a shelf, desk or cabinet. Printed details reinforce its historical appearance without distracting from the carefully formed contours. Figures and an accessible interior are not the focus here; the model draws its presence from scale, armament and layered deck structure. It suits experienced younger builders with an interest in history as well as adult collectors seeking a compact counterpart to larger naval models.

Building with history, technology and character

COBI is the largest building brick manufacturer in Central and Eastern Europe. Based in Poland, it has a clear mission: to create high-quality building sets that combine a passion for technology, historical learning and creative play. Every set is made exclusively in the EU using rigorously tested materials.

COBI specialises in collector’s models with character: military history models, modern classics at 1:35 scale, licensed vehicles and aircraft, as well as interactive technology sets. The extensive Historical Collection is especially popular, featuring faithfully detailed tanks, aircraft, ships and vehicles from the First and Second World Wars. Moving parts, durable prints instead of stickers and authentic scales make these models a highlight for collectors and grown-up builders.

Everything is manufactured at COBI’s own factory in Mielec, Poland, using materials of European origin, in accordance with strict EU regulations and with continuous quality testing, including inspections by TÜV Rheinland. COBI also works with renowned brands such as Jeep®, Škoda®, Maserati®, Boeing® and Dassault Aviation, as well as Wargaming.net (World of Tanks and World of Warships). Thanks to the included statistics cards, many sets can even be used as compact strategy games.

COBI is therefore aimed not only at children, but also at adults, technology enthusiasts, history fans and model builders. If you are looking for something special beyond the familiar brands, you will find it here: robust quality, fascinating themes, authentic scales and durable prints, all developed and manufactured in Europe.
